‘Ants and mosquitoes are all
the same. But every human
being is unique.
Shudu is telling her story so that you can know this: if you feel different from everyone else, it might feel scary. But it means you have a special place in this world and the rest of us need you because you are perfect, just as you are. Bullies might think we have to be like ants or mosquitoes, but being different is a gift. Celebrate your magic!’

Gugu smiled. “My darling child, you are already perfect. You just have to be yourself.” She pulled Shudu closer. “Just remember one thing, my child. If you are beautiful inside,” she tapped Shudu’s chest where her heart was beating, “then you will always be beautiful outside.”
