Together Apart Booking Enquiry

Thank you for your interest in hosting Xolisa Guzula and Athambile Masola, authors of Together Apart: The story of living in apartheid for a presentation of the book and an interactive session with your learners.

Their 45-60-minute sessions will be tailored for either primary school (ages 9-12) or high school (ages 13-16) or senior high (grades 11 and 12).

Books will be available for purchase; ideally, we would encourage your school to confirm pre-orders and payment 10 days prior to the event.

“Together Apart is an extraordinary book that tells the story of apartheid to children in a highly original and engaging way.

Beautifully designed and accessibly written, it is filled with images and stories about key milestones and well-known figures in South African history. But it is also filled with lesser-known stories of unsung heroes and heroines, and small stories of resistance, love and friendship that shaped everyday lives. A unique achievement of the book is the way in which it enables children to understand not just apartheid in the past, but how it continues to shape our lives in the present. While not shying away from the cruelty of apartheid, the authors also tell hopeful stories, challenging young readers to learn more about and from our history of injustice.”
