Professor Alois S Mlambo works in the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies, University of Pretoria, and has written extensively on Zimbabwe’s social and economic history. His publications include: White Immigration into Rhodesia: From Occupation to Federation (2002); The Economic Structural Adjustment Programme: The Case of Zimbabwe 1990–1995 (1997); [with ES Pangeti and I Phimister] Zimbabwe: A History of Manufacturing 1890–1995 (2000); and [with ES Pangeti] The Political Economy of the Sugar Industry in Zimbabwe 1920–90 (1996). He has recently edited African Scholarly Publishing: Essays (2007), and is currently working on the history of South Africa’s hegemony in Southern Africa since the 1960s.
